A countertop slab layout is a special add-on purchase by customers which enables them to specify and preview how their stone countertop slabs will be laid out within their kitchen design.

The purpose of the countertop slab layout package is to finalize the design and layout of the countertop before it is cut and installed in the customer’s kitchen or bathroom and ensure that the entire kitchen pattern is laid out however the customer desires. The big advantage with slab layouts is that we will take extra time and care to ensure as perfect a match with your slab veining as possible. We use specialized software from Alphacam and Baca to ensure a perfect match.

During the countertop slab layout discussion:

  1. On the date scheduled for the slab layout, the customer will be emailed by our lead programmer showcasing an initial slab layout of the customer’s project. The initial email/layout will show the customers countertops laid out on their slabs in a way that our team believes to be appealing/most desirable for vein matching or showcasing the stones best areas.
  2. If the customer provided the sales team with indications on how they would like the stone cut prior, the programmer will take that input into consideration when doing the initial layout as well.
  3. The customer can then review the layout and provide our programmer with any changes they would like to make by 4pm during the same workday that the initial slab layout was sent to the customer. This timeline ensures no delays will occur between the slab layout date, the cutting and polishing of the slabs, and the scheduled slab installation date.

For natural stone or any countertop material with significant movement or flow, the countertop slab layout package allows the customer to examine their slabs, considering factors like color, veining, patterns, and overall appearance. They can also discuss with the fabricator any specific preferences they have regarding the layout and placement of different sections of the slab on their countertop to achieve the desired aesthetic.

The fabrication team may provide guidance on the best way to cut and position the slabs, taking into account the dimensions and design of the customer’s kitchen or bathroom. This step is crucial to ensure that the finished countertop looks as desired and that any important patterns or features in the stone are showcased effectively. When in doubt about the slab layout, keep in mind that our Tops team has decades of experience working with stone countertops, and any suggested layout changes that we provide are meant to ensure that your countertops get installed correctly, on-time, and look their absolute best!

Once the slab layout is agreed upon via email, the fabricator will proceed with cutting and shaping the slab to the specified dimensions and patterning, and later, install it in the customer’s home.
